Dunmow 2 - 0 Marconi Athletic - A Winning Start!
Dunmow, for the first time in many a year, kicked off their season today with a win!
A really good footballing performance saw Dunmow through. Based on the number of shots we had the scoreline should have been far more favourable - but we'll take 2-0 happily!

A full write up will follow shortly.

Dunmow FC 3 - 3 Dunmow Vets (Friendly) 14/08/10
Cracking game this with our mates from the Veterans - see saw game with, probably, the right result!
Starting line-up:
Chris Soutar
Mick Miller Ben Jolly Jamie Smith Lewis Wellard
Scott Geraghty Andy Harvey Matt Coopersmith Mark Seton
Oliver Coopersmith Matt Boreham
A cracking game of 2 halves saw Dunmow FC take the initiative with some decent passing football. Unfortunately a late challange by right back Mick Miller saw both him and Vets left back Simon Wraith having to leave the field both with nasty knee injuries. Dunmow FC (typically) had no reserves but were helped out by Veteran Eddie taking over at right back. By the end of the first half Dunmow FC should have been well ahead, unfortunately they could only show 1 goal for their dominance from Oliver Cooper-Smith who had switched with Andy Harvey and was playing from midfield. The second half saw the Vets go into a 2 goal lead early on but goals from Oliver Cooper-Smith and Scott Geraghty saw Dunmow FC back in front - 3-2. Unfortunately Dunmow FC couldn't resist the pressure from the Veterans and conceeded with 10 minutes to go.

Dunmow 0 v 8 St Cleres - Friendly 31/07/10
Bit of a nightmare this...
So, last night we had 15 players, come the game we're down to a bare 11, 4 of which are over 40...
I think you know where we are going here...
Dunmow 0 - 8 St Clere's
Whilst we have not had an enormous amount of success against ths team in the past, we had hoped for something better than this. To be fair we had a good 1st half, turning in at 0-2 down, but having played some decent posession football. St Cleres demonstrated their better fitness in the second half and gave us a good spanking.
There were some encouraging perormances - Lewis Wellard ran his socks off, as did Scott Geraghty and Simon Wraith (seconded from Dunmow Vets for the game) and Nick Green showed real class all over the pitch showing why he's leaving us for Thaxted FC... sadly the rest of the team couldn't match this endeavour.
Next week should prove to be different, at least we (hope we) won't be relying on Vets to cover for our lack of numbers...
The team that took part in this match was:
Matthew Boreham
Lee Thomson Simon Wraith Mick Miller Lewis Wellard
Mark Shrimpton Lee Waddingham Nick Green Scott Geraghty
Ian Hicks Mark Seton
Midway through the first half Mark Shrimpton and Ian Hicks switched positions. At half time, as there were no subs and due to injury, Mark Shrimpton went in goal with Matthew Boerham taking over up front.
